A.I.R. Pipe - Hitting Body Heat Shield

Bulletin 84-6E-3

Date Nov. '83

Ref. No. 84-046-6E
SUBJECT: CONVERTER A.I.R. PIPE HITTING HEAT SHIELD

MODELS AFFECTED: 1984 LESABRES AND ELECTRAS WITH 5.0L V-8 GAS ENGINES

Some 1984 LeSabres and Electras with 5.0L engines may exhibit a noise that sounds like the exhaust system hitting the floor pan. This may be caused by the A.I.R. pipe to the converter touching the body heat shield.

FIGURE 1:

To correct this condition, loosen the A.I.R. pipe to converter clamp, reposition the A.I.R. pipe away from the heat shield and tighten the clamp. There should be about 1/2 inch clearance at the heat shield. Refer to Figure for location of clearance.
