Compressor Pressure Relief Valve Removal (With RPO Code C60)



COMPRESSOR PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE REMOVAL (WITH RPO CODE C60)

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Recover the refrigerant from the air conditioning (A/C) system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the high pressure relief valve (1).

IMPORTANT: Immediately cap or tape the open A/C compressor opening immediately in order to prevent system contamination.

4. Remove and discard the O-ring seal (2).
5. Cap or tape the pressure relief valve port.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Lubricate and install the NEW O-ring seal (2). Refer to O-Ring Replacement.
2. Remove the cap or tape from the pressure relief valve port.
3. Install the high pressure relief valve (1).

Tighten the valve to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
6. Leak test the fitting of the component using J 39400-A.
