Ignition Coil: Service and Repair

Replacing Ignition Coil (S62)

Switch off ignition.
Instructions apply to left and right ignition coil banks.







Release cap nuts (1).
Remove cover from ignition coils (2).

For a better overview, the remaining work steps are shown on an engine that has been removed.







Release nuts on cable holder.







Unfasten screws on ignition coils.
Disconnect plug connection (1).
Remove ignition coils.







Installation:
Check profile gasket (1) for seating and damage and replace if necessary.

Read out fault memory of control unit of Digital Motor
Electronics (DME). Check stored fault messages. Rectify faults.
Now clear the fault memory.
