Rear Cross-Member Bushing: Service and Repair

Replacing two rubber mounts for rear axle carrier
Remove wheels.

Remove complete exhaust system.

Remove heat shield.





Support rear axle with special tools 00 2 030/040 and 33 4 220.





Loosen the screws on the left and right and lower the rear axle approximately 40 ... 45 mm.

Installation:
Threaded pins (1) on rear detent plate must be fitted along longitudinal axis of vehicle.

Tightening torque, refer to Specifications.





Pull out rubber mount using special tools 33 4140/151/154/ 155.

Fit special tool 33 4 140 to recesses in rubber mount. Use a hot air blower with outlet temperature of max. 600°C, heat bearing bush for approx. 2 minutes (equivalent to approx. 80°Con bearing bush) and remove the rubber mount.

Caution: Note installation direction of rubber mount.





Arrows (1) must point in longitudinal direction of vehicle.
Coat rubber mount with Circolight anti-friction agent, refer to Specifications.





Draw rubber mount firmly home with special tools 33 4 152/153/154/155.
