Cylinder Head Replacement Procedure for N62 Engine

Situation
For quality monitoring purposes, replacement cylinder heads for the N62 have been placed on parts hold.

Measure
If after having performed all relevant diagnostic procedures, cylinder head replacement is suspected, please follow the guidelines below.

^ Contact the Drivetrain Hotline.

^ Have all relevant vehicle information (VIN, mileage, customer complaint etc.) ready.

^ Be ready to detail all work or diagnostics that have been performed on the vehicle to date.

^ The Hotline may recommend further diagnostics based on the information supplied.

^ Finally, if necessary, the Hotline will request release of cylinder heads.

In addition to the release of the cylinder heads, the oil pressure circuit non-return valves will be released. There are three per head and they are located on the front intake side of the head assembly.

^ Do not order the valves. They will be released automatically.

^ Torque the valves to 15 Nm. Do not exceed specified torque.

^ Do not install new cylinder heads with old non return valves.
