Replacing the Sensor For the Fuel Level Gauge (Right)




Removing And Installing/Replacing The Sensor For The Fuel Level Gauge (right)

Suck the fuel out of the fuel tank.







Remove rear bench seat.
Unfasten rubber grommet.







Cut insulating mat along perforated line and fold open.







Remove cover.

Installation:
Note gasket.







Unlock connector and pull upwards to remove.
Release hose clamp (1), withdraw hose.
Open hose clip (2) and remove hose (only with park heating).







Unfasten rotary connection with special tool 16 1 020.

Installation:
Replace rubber gasket.
Tighten down rotary connection to correct torque.


Installation:







When installing the fuel level sensor, ensure the lug (1) locates in the recess (2) on the tank.
When tightening to torque, notch (3) on screw cap can be heard and felt to engage in the toothed segment (4) on the tank.







Carefully raise fuel level sensor (1) and expose spiral hose (2). Remove fuel level sensor from tank

CAUTION!
Do not bend sensor.



Installation:
Ensure that base support is correctly located in fuel baffle.







Compress retaining hook on fuel pump (black housing). Remove fuel pump from fuel baffle (white housing).

Installation:
Ensure that both retaining hooks locate perfectly. Check that O-ring is perfectly located on intake neck. If necessary, locate accurately by applying gentle pressure.







Disconnect both plug connections (1) from the fuel pump. Unfasten hose clip (2) and carefully remove spiral hose, avoiding damage to pump neck.








Installation:
Align spiral hose (spare part black with white position marks) and cable (2) between fuel level sensor (1) and fuel pump (3) before installation to prevent torsional stresses.
White position marks on the spiral hose for location of the cable ties and assembly position on the fuel pump.
