Removing And Installing/Replacing The Sensor For The Fuel Level Gauge (left)
Suck the fuel out of the fuel tank.
Remove rear bench seat.
Unfasten rubber grommet.
Cut insulating mat along perforated line and fold open.
Remove cover.
Installation:
Note gasket.
Unlock connector (1) and remove.
Release hose clamp (2), withdraw hose.
Unfasten rotary connection with special tool 16 1 020.
Installation:
Replace rubber gasket.
Tighten down rotary connection to correct torque.
Installation:
When installing the fuel level sensor, ensure the lug (1) locates in the recess (2) on the tank.
When tightening to torque, notch (3) on screw cap can be heard and felt to engage in the toothed segment (4) on the tank.
Pull sensor upwards until connection on sucking jet pump is accessible.
Compress tabs (1) and pull connection (2) downwards to remove.
CAUTION!
Do not bend sensor.
Carefully remove sensor.
Installation:
Ensure that base support is correctly located in recess in tank.
