Brake Rotor/Disc: Testing and Inspection
Note: Wheel bearing clearance must be OK for this inspection.
Run-out
- Mount brake disk with two bolts.
- Turn back brake linings (brake disk must not scrape).
- Mount a dial gauge on spring strut using a magnetic holder.
- Apply dial-gauge tip on outer edge of brake disk with light preload.
- Turn brake disk slowly and read lateral runout.
Thickness
- Measure thickness deviation at about 8 points on brake surface using a micrometer.
