Replacing Drive For Active Seat
Removing And Installing/Replacing Drive For Active Seat, Left Or Right
The active seat has diagnostic capabilities.
The system voltage must be > 11.6 volts.
If necessary, connect DIS Tester or MoDiC III and reset fault memory.
Check function.
Move backrest forward to maximum extent.
Move front seat back/upwards until screws (1) are accessible.
Release screws (1) on front seat.
Installation Note: Replace screws (microencapsulation).
Raise front seat (1) until support (2) is free of sleeve (3) on left/right.
Do not move front seat completely backwards (cable).
Raise front seat a little.
Feed cable (1) for belt tensioner (2) out of support (3).
Disconnect plug connection from servodrive for longitudinal seat adjustment.
Tilt front seat (electric) back so that it does not yet touch rear seat bench.
Lift out detents (2).
Detach control module (1) with supports (3).
Release cable strap (4).
Unhook cable (5) from support on pump housing.
Disconnect plug connection (1) from control module (2).
Detach cable strap (1) at top from insulating cloth (2).
Detach cable strap (1) at bottom from insulating cloth (2).
Detach cable strap (1) from hose (2).
Slide insulating cloth (3) to one side.
Snap out catches (1) from wire (2) to foam.
Feed out right tray (3) to center from wire.
Remove left tray (4) in same way as tray (3).
Fit trays (1) and (2) together.
Feed trays (1) and (2) with pump (3) out of seat subframe.
The active seat unit comprises the following components, which must not be separated:
1. Pump
2. Hydraulic bubble (R), right
3. Hydraulic bubble (L), left
Place removed active seat unit on a clean surface.
Turn hydraulic bubble (1) over and cut through clips (2) with side cutting pliers.
Remove left tray in same way as right tray.
Installation:
Fit new clips (2).
Place tray (1) as illustrated under hydraulic bubble and connect with new clips.
Connect left tray in mirror image fashion.
1. Tray
2. Opening for hydraulic hose (6)
3. Hydraulic bubble (R), right
4. Retaining lug on underside of hydraulic bubble
5. Designation of hydraulic bubble (R), right (direction of travel)
6. Hydraulic hose
After installing hydraulic bubbles (2) and (3) with trays, place active seat unit on a clean surface.
Check all components for damage.
The hydraulic bubbles (2) and (3) must rest on the surface without torsion (as shown in illustration); turn hydraulic bubble if necessary.
For assembly, fold hydraulic bubbles together and place in seat subframe.
1. Pump
2. Hydraulic bubble (R), right
3. Hydraulic bubble (L), left
Feed in trays (1) and (2) that have been filled together with pump (3)
Once active seat unit has been fed in, fold open hydraulic bubbles (1) and (2).
The hydraulic bubbles (1) and (2) must now rest on the surface without torsion (as shown in illustration).
Turn hydraulic bubbles if necessary.
Connect plug (3) to control module (4).
Check function.
Installation:
Make sure that hydraulic lines (1) are correctly laid (position, kink-free) to wiring harness (2) and to air line (3).
CAUTION: If a hydraulic line (1) has been kinked, replace the active seat unit.
