SUBJECT:
Interior Light Cannot be Switched on with Remote Control

MODEL:
E46 (3 Series) Vehicles produced to 10/98

Situation:
The "find car" function illuminates the interior lights of a locked car when the remote control "lock" button is pressed. On vehicles produced prior to October 1998, this function does not work.

Cause:
Software error in the General Module with SW 1.1

Correction:
On a customer complaint basis, replace the General Module with SW 1.2, or higher. The General Module is located behind the glovebox.

Note:
The DIS identification page for the general module does not show the decimal point in the software level (DIS Vi 6.0). On affected cars, the software level is shown as SW "11".
