Coding the new DSP Amplifier P/N 65 12 8 375 788 for E38, E39
MODEL:
E38, E39
Situation:
The DSP amplifier p/n 65 12 8 375 788 must be coded after installation.
Cause:
As of 3/98 production, a new DSP amplifier, P/N 65 12 8 375 788, has been installed in the E38 and E39 with the "Premium sound" option. This amplifier requires coding for optimum sound quality. This new amplifier will replace P/N 65 12 8 376 053 for the E38, and P/N 65 12 8 376 262 for the E39, prior to 3/98 production.
Vehicles Affected:
All E 38, E 39 with DSP option.
Procedure:
Before installing the new amplifier, make sure you are installing P/N 65 12 8 375 788 by examining the part number on the replacement amplifier.
For E38, E39 produced after 3/98:
After installing the DSP amplifier:
1. Connect the DIS/Modic (version 13 or higher) to the vehicle and select "Coding/Programming"
2. Select "3 ZCS CODING".
3. Select "1 Recoding".
4. Select "82 DSP."
5. Follow the instruction path to complete the coding.
6. Check for proper operation of the sound system and the DSP function.
For E38, E39 produced before 3/98:
After installing the DSP amplifier:
1. Connect the DIS/Modic (version 13 or higher) to the vehicle and select "Coding/Programming"
2. Select "3 ZCS CODING".
3. Select "4 Conversion"
4. Select "14 DSP"
5. Follow the instruction path to complete the conversion.
6. Select "3 ZCS CODING"
7. Select "1 Recoding"
8. Select "82 DSP."
9. Follow the instruction path to complete the coding.
10. Check for proper operation of the sound system and the DSP function.
