Removing and installing or replacing starter (S50)

Note instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery. Refer to Service Precautions. Technician Safety Information

- Read fault memory.
- Disconnect battery earth lead.
- Remove air-intake manifold, refer to Powetrain Management - Fuel Delivery and Air Induction - Intake Air Plenum - Service and Repair - Procedures Service and Repair






- Unscrew nuts.
- Remove leads from starter motor.

Installation:

- Check routing of wires.
- For tightening torque, refer to chart below






- Unscrew bolts.
- Remove starter motor.

Installation:

- For tightening torque, refer to chart below

Installation:






- Check starter pinion for signs of damage.
- Check the starter crown wheel for damage.
- Dismantling and reassembling starter motor, refer to Disassembling and Assembling Starter Motor Disassembling and Assembling Starter Motor
