Remove rear door trim panel.
If necessary, remove airbag module in front door.
Unfasten plug connection (1).
Release screws (2) and remove speaker unit.
Remove inside door handle on front door.
CAUTION: Do not kink fiber optics cable. The bending radius of the fiber optics cable must not be less than 20 mm.
Detach central light source (1) from retainer (2).
Disconnect plug connection (3) and detach fiber optics cable (4) from central light source.
Release screws (1) and remove holder for central light source (2).
Release cable tie (1) on wiring harness (2).
Disconnect plug connections (4).
Release expansion rivets (1).
Using special tool 00 9 317 (trim panel wedge), lever out sealing bead (1) of sound insulation (2) completely or if necessary partially.
Installation:
In event of replacement or partial detachment, lay butylene tape (sourcing reference: BMW Parts Service) on inner door plate or sound insulation.
Seal cable penetrations with butylene tape.
NOTE: Position of butylene tape (1) on inner door plate.
NOTE: Position of butylene tape (1) on sound insulation (2).
CAUTION:
- When working with adhesive cleaners in enclosed rooms:
- Ensure room is well ventilated.
- The adhesive areas must be dry and free from dust and grease.
- After cleaning, do not touch the adhesive areas with bare hands.
If necessary, clean the specified adhesive area with adhesive cleaner (sourcing reference: BMW Parts Service).
Air drying time: 1 minute
Lay butylene tape with a diameter of 6 mm (sourcing reference: BMW Parts Service) in specified adhesive area.
Heat butylene tape (hot air blower) and press down firmly on sound insulation all round.
Contact pressure with hand roller: approx. 30 N/sq.cm
Manual contact pressure: approx. 10 N/sq.cm
NOTE: Firm thumb pressure has approx. 50 N/sq.cm
