Adjusting Tailgate Lock (Compact)

Requirement:
Trunk lid and gaskets correctly fitted and adjusted.
If necessary, adjust trunk lid to fit,


Turn detent buffers on left/right sides of trunk lid in completely.







Check fulcrum pads on lower section of trunk lid lock for damage and replace if necessary.







Loosen screws for trunk lid lock (lower section) until it is just still able to move, allowing it to center itself.
The lower section of the trunk lid must not scrape against the trunk lid lock.







Adjusting lower section of trunk lid lock:
Close trunk lid, holding down the lock button to prevent the trunk lid lock from engaging.
This enables lower section of trunk lid lock to adjust itself correctly.







Open trunk lid.
Tighten screws on lower section of trunk lid lock.
Check adjustment of trunk lid and trunk lid lock, repeating adjustment if necessary.

Unscrew detent buffers until closed trunk lid makes contact on left/right sides of the detent buffer.


CAUTION!
The trunk lid must not be higher than the side panels, otherwise preload occurs on height adjustment!
