Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection

Ignition Coil Location:

Resistance Test
1. With the ignition "OFF" remove the coil high tension lead.
2. Remove the leads from the coil and measure the resistance at terminals 1 and 15.

^ Resistance should be 0.5 ohms (+10%). Replace as necessary.

4. Measure the resistance at terminals 15 and 4 (center tower).

^ Resistance should be 6 K ohms (+10%). Replace as necessary.

Visual Inspection
5. Check coil insulation plate for signs of hair line cracks, or burning. Replace as necessary.
