SUBJECT:
Modification of BMW Special Tool

MODELS:
E31

Situation:
Redesign of the E31 headlight housing had made BMW Special Tool 88 88 6 630 000 inoperative.

Correction:
A simple modification of the above tool will make it usable for both styles of headlight housings.





The modification should be performed as follows:

1. Remove glue lines (# 1 on line drawing) with a razor blade.

2. Cut away the shaded area (# 2 on line drawing) with a pair of snips. Be careful to only remove the inner layer of metal. Do not remove the outer layer or the rubber gasket.
