Situation:
A self-powered emergency power siren has been introduced on vehicles equipped with the Anti-Theft System (DWA) for model Year 1996. This emergency power siren will activate if the DWA system is armed even it the vehicle's power supply is tampered with.
This means that the alarm will go off if DWA has been armed and the main battery switch is turned off.
Vehicles Affected:
7 Series (E38), 8 Series (E31) - vehicles produced 9/95 and later.
Correction:
As long as a vehicle is in stock and still equipped with the main battery switch, observe the following procedure when switching off the main battery switch:
1. Switch off the main battery switch before locking the vehicle.
2. Lock the vehicle mechanically.
