Multi Information Display (Mid)
The MID is a display device only and performs no calculations. It receives its data from the EKM via the I-Bus.
The MID display functions include:
- Clock*
- Date*
- Average MPG 1 or 2
- Outside Air Temperature (with ice warning)
- Average MPH
- Distance*/Arrival
- Range
- Maximum MPH* (with warning gong)
- Timer* (Parked car Ventilation or Stopwatch)
- Code* (Antitheft Function)
* Data must be entered from keyboard
If the EKM has lost memory power, the MID clock/date display will flash " - - : - - ". In addition, the 20 character matrix display will read "Input Clock". Time and date are then entered with the numerical keys and activated by pressing the set/reset button. When entering the date, the year must also be programmed (as with BC IV). To reset time or date, press the CLOCK or DATE button and hold for at least three seconds. When the display flashes, reset as previously described.
The following functions are the same as those of BC IV:
^ Memo
^ Average MPG
^ Outside Temperature
^ Average MPH
^ Range
^ Max MPH
^ Timer
Certain other functions have been changed relative to the functions of BC IV.
The code function is identical to that of BC IV, except that the set/reset must be pressed to cancel the code function.
The distance and arrival functions remain the same as those of BC IV, except that there is no arrival key. Estimated time of arrival is displayed simultaneously in the MID if a distance has been entered. If the Km/Miles changeover button is pressed, the distance is changed to the alternate unit of measurement. Pressing the changeover button a second will change the time to the alternate unit of measurement.
The changeover button (Km/Miles) has the same function as with BC IV. However, to change units of measurement for time or date, the clock or date key must be pressed at the same time that the changeover button is pressed.
Remote switch operation (via switch at turn signal stalk) is unchanged from BC IV, except that time and date are not affected (due to separate LCD display).
The MID can display text, including check control messages, in any one of eight languages. The language is changed through test function II and is described under the following section, "MID Test Functions and Diagnosis".
