Electronic Overload Protection Relays

The power windows, sunroof, and central locking circuits are protected by two electronic overload protection relays. Each relay works in conjunction with a 30 amp fuse. The cutout limits are designed so that the GM will interrupt the load before the fuse blows. The GM will interrupt the load if it monitors:

30-33 amps for 25 seconds 33-36 amps for 6 seconds 36-45 amps for 1 second 45-60 amps for 0.2 second over 60 amps for 0.1 second

If either or both relays are opened, the GM will reset them after 60 seconds. If relay opening occurs 6 times in succession (indicating a permanent fault), the GM will not reset (unless ignition is turned off, then back on).
