Mid Test Functions and Diagnosis
The test functions in the MID are only provided as an aid in workshop diagnosis and are not intended for the customer's use. The tests are called up by pressing the 1000 and 10 keys simultaneously. The test function desired is then entered with the numeric keys and the value is displayed after pushing the SET/RESET button. Test values and texts are given in metric/German. The following is a list of the tests and their data.
Test Function 10: The first eight characters indicate the generation, hardware, and software in hexadecimal code. The last four digits indicate the week and year date of EKM manufacture.
Test Function 11: This function is used to set the primary language and values for the BC functions. After Test 11 is selected and the SET/RESET button is pushed, the language is changed by pressing the 100 key or 1000 key. The language selected will not change if battery power is disconnected.

Test Function 15: This test function can indicate a short to power or ground on the I-Bus. This defect will also be shown as either intermittent or permanent. In addition, if Terminal 15 is present Terminal R will be stored as a defect if it is not powered. A defect in memory will be updated to the latest circuit status to be detected (i.e., intermittent to permanent). To change the display from one defect display to the other press the 1000 or 100 key. The following chart gives the LCD display defect readouts.
Test Function 19: The test functions are unlocked as on BC IV (enter the sum of the day and month). However, to lock the test functions simply push the SET/RESET button after entering Test 19 (display reads "LOCK OFF", push SET/RESET).
Test Function 20: This test allows the MID keyboard to be checked. When a key is pushed, a set of pixels (5x3) in either the top or bottom row (corresponding to key location) will illuminate.
Test Function 21: This function erases all values in the MID (equivalent to disconnecting the power supply to the MID). This is done by simply pushing the SET/RESET button after entering Test 21. The EKM will immediately resend its values to the MID. Therefore, no resetting will be necessary.
