Removing and Installing or Replacing Front Axle Final Drive

Remove front propeller shaft
Remove left front wheel
Remove splash guard






Unscrew left nut and press off tie rod with special tool 32 070

Installation
Bore and journal cleaned of grease.
Replace self-locking nut

Important: Dont turn power steering as far as stop, this would damage radial oil seal






Unscrew left nut and press off control arm with special tool 31 2 160

Installation
Bore and journal cleaned of grease.
Lock nut with cotter pin






Pull right output shaft out of front axle final drive about 15mm (0.591") with special tools 31 0 011/012
Screw in pressure spindles alternately






Note: Ring of special tool 31 5 011 bears in groove of shaft.






Pull off left output shaft with special tool 31 5 011
Pressure spindles bear on heads of bolts
Screw in pressure spindles alternately
Press out spring strut until output shaft slides out of front axle final drive

Installation
Refer to Removing and Installing or Replacing Left or Right Output Shaft Service and Repair






Unscrew nut and take off front axle final drive






Note: Replace round seal
