M42 Engine

The Motronic for the M42 engine has a new BMW hardware number from 9/90. The new BMW hardware number (1 734 131) is fully compatible wah vehicles produced before 9/90. Motronics with the previous BMW hardware number (1 734 060) must not be used in vehicles manufactured from 9/90. The new version Motronic monitors the primary ignition circuit and when it sees a failure shuts off the fuel injectors of the affected group of cylinders.
