Temperature Regulation

Individual temperature regulation is achieved by regulating the temperature the two separate heater cores.

Both heater cores have separate electric water valves which are controlled by the ECU. The ECU varies the opening and closing times of these valves based on the input signal it has received and processed.

Desired temperatures lower than outside temperatures cannot be achieved unless the air conditioner button is pressed. In this mode the evaporator is kept at a constant temperature of 35°-37°F. The selected temperature is achieved by mixing with warm air from the heater cores.

There is no temperature regulation when the driver's temperature wheel is in either the maximum heating or cooling position. In this position the passenger's temperature selection is overridden.

To assure proper coolant flow through the heater cores at low engine speeds an electric water pump has been installed.

The temperature of the air from the center dash vents may also be varied from the selected temperatures by rotating the middle wheel (1) either up for warmer air or down for cooler air.

This is overridden when the selected temperatures are in their maximum cooling positions.

The rear seat area is provided with a ventilation grill located at the end of the center console. Air flow from this vent is limited to cool air when the drivers side is in either the AUTO or MAX UP programs.
