SUBJECT: Malfunctioning BMW Remote Control Vehicle Security System

MODELS: 5 Series (E34)


Situation: The current installation instructions in the BMW Remote Control Vehicle Security System Kit (P/N 88 88 1 600 227) are incomplete, as regards installation in 5 Series vehicles.

Correction: When installing the above mentioned kit in an E34 vehicle, the blue wires for the trunk protection circuit must be disconnected. These wires are located approximately 18" from the (white) twelve-pin alarm module connector.

If these wires are left connected in an E34 installation, the alarm will malfunction (alarm goes off when locking vehicle).
