SUBJECT: Ground Strap (between alternator and crankcase)
MODELS: M3 (through December 1987 production)
Situation: As of January 1988 production, a new, flexible strap (colored red) is used on the M3 to connect the alternator to the dipstick guide tube bracket on the crankcase.
The new strap (P/N 12 52 1 312 124) must be installed in place of the original brown, rigid strap whenever an M3 (produced prior to January 1988) is in the workshop.
