SUBJECT: 1988 Model Year Information and Specifications
MODELS: E30
For the 1988 Model Year, the following changes have been incorporated.
Note: Changes apply to all models unless otherwise indicated.
General
Information: Body changes and improvements to the 3-Series have been concentrated on making the cars more contemporary with the styling theme of the E32.
Engine: Revised Eta engine (2.7 ltr.) has power increased to 127 bhp at 4,800 rpm, previously 121 bhp at 4,250 rpm (325).
Fuel Supply: Fuel tank capacity increased to 16.4 gallons/62 liters, previously 14.5/55 (except M3).
Suspension: Aluminum front suspension wishbones (M3).
Body: New design bumpers with less overhang (20 mm at front and 20 mm at rear) except Convertible/M3.
^ Ellipsoid-technology low-beam headlights.
^ Restyled and slightly larger taillight clusters (except Convertible/M3).
^ New style high-mount brake light (Convertible).
^ Complete front section of body shell assembly redesigned for easier repair.
^ Blacked-out windshield, rear window and side window frames (except Convertible).
