GROUP 51 Body and Equipment
Bulletin Number 51 05 84 (909) Page 1 of 2
Montvale, NJ January 1985 Technical Dept.
SUBJECT: Window Regulators and Regulator Motors

MODELS: 318i, 325e

Complaint: Repeat cases of window regulator jamming

Cause: Improper removal procedure of the regulator motor

Correction: For replacement of the regulator motor or regulator, the window regulator together with the electric motor has to be removed as one unit from the door. Only then should the motor be removed from the regulator.

Information: If a motor is removed without removing the regulator at the same time, the regulator must be twisted or bent to make clearance to remove the motor. Installing a new motor onto a twisted/bent regulator will result in repeat cases of window regulator jamming within a short period of time. Removed regulators should be inspected and checked for binding/freedom of movement of the regulator track prior to submission. Binding caused by removal of the motor in an unauthorized manner will be cause for rejection of warranty.
Warranty

Status: Warranty Receiving will perform 100% inspection on all returned regulators.
Regulators damaged by improper removal and/or packaging/shipping damage will be rejected.
