SUBJECT: Rechargeable Flashlight/Socket
MODELS: E 30 (produced prior to 7.87)
Condition: Fuse #21 (7.5 Amp.) "blows".
Situation: The above condition might be caused by metal foreign objects (coins, bracelets ...) bridging the socket for the rechargeable flashlight (located in the glovebox).
Procedure: This situation can be prevented by installation of a foam insert in the glovebox socket (on vehicles where the flashlight is not present).
The foam insert is available (free of charge) under Part Number 61 13 1 360 702.
Every time an E 30 is in the dealership it should be checked and the foam insert installed, if required. The condition of fuse # 21 (7.5 Amp.) should also be checked.
An initial supply of the foam inserts will be shipped automatically to all dealers. Please insure that your Service Department personnel have an adequate supply. Additional pieces of the foam insert should be ordered through the BMW of North America Parts Department.
