Precautions, Maintenance, Modifications & Performance Specification Information

PRECAUTIONS

1. Always remove the tape cassette from the unit when not in use.

2. To protect your tapes, place them in a cassette case or holder, store them in a cool place away from dust, dirt, and strong magnetic sources such as electric motors and TV sets.

3. Before inserting your tape into the unit, make sure there is no slack in the tape. A loose tape may cause damage to the unit and the tape tself. Tighten the tape by inserting a pencil or similar instrument into the spindle hole and turning it until the tape is snug.

4. Use good quality cassette tapes. C-90 or C-120 type cassette tapes are not recommended for use because the tape thickness is insufficient for the variations in vehicle interior temperatures.

5. Prevent foreign objects from entering the cassette loading slot to protect the precision mechanism and tape head from damage.

6.Do not insert tape when unit is in "OFF" position. This may result in damage to the cassette player or tape.

7. The power antenna is fully extended whenever the radio is ON.

MAINTENANCE

After 15 hours of tape use, the "CLEAN" indicator will appear on the display for 30 seconds and an audible signal will sound for 10 seconds. This indicates that the playback head and capstan should be cleaned. The deterioration of playback sound is also an indication that the cassette player should be cleaned. IMPORTANT - Insert a special head cleaning cassette into the tape loading slot and allow it to run for a few minutes.

MODIFICATIONS

This unit is designed for use with two 4 ohm speakers or four 8 ohm speakers only. This unit is not designed for use with additional power boosters. The installation of a power booster may damage the radio and such damage may not be covered by your warranty.
