Impulse Transmitter Replacement

1. Remove distributor, then the rotor and dust shield.
2. Remove vacuum capsule mounting screws and the capsule, pushing connecting link down to disengage it from pin.
3. Remove retaining ring securing reluctor, then the thrust washer.
4. Remove reluctor, prying reluctor from shaft with 2 evenly spaced screw drivers. Ensure that dowel pin does not drop into distributor.
5. Remove snap ring securing transmitter coil.
6. Remove screw securing connector terminal insulator and pull insulator straight out of housing.
7. Loosen or remove screws securing distributor cap retaining clips to provide clearance for transmitter removal.
8. Remove transmitter and carrier assembly from housing.
9. Invert assembly, remove 3 retaining screws, then separate transmitter from carrier plate.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Ensure that insulator between transmitter and plate is undamaged and properly installed.
b. Align slot in reluctor with slot in shaft, apply even pressure to install reluctor, then insert dowel pin.
c. Ensure that air gap between reluctor and transmitter plate poles is within specifications.
