SUBJECT: Fan Shroud Modification
MODELS: E24 and E28 with M30 engine (up to 6/86 production)
Problem: The fan shroud could become deformed and displaced from its frame.
Cause: High ambient temperatures and high speeds.
Correction: Replace fan shroud with modified shroud (P/N 17 11 1 712 240).
When a car is in your shop, visually check the fan shroud for deformation and frame displacement. If this is the case, replace the early fan shroud version (P/N 17 11 1 177 834) by the new one (P/N 17 11 1 712 240).
Note: The part number of the early version appears on the right side of the shroud, halfway down the side.
