SUBJECT: Driveline Deflection Angles

Situation: Specifications had not been published for the driveline deflection angles (which were to be measured) as specified in S.I. 26 02 84 (895).

Correction: The attached procedure for determining driveline deflection angles and specifications will assist in determining if a vehicle is within specifications.

Steps for determining deflection angles:

^ Measure engine angle
^ Measure front section driveshaft angle
^ Measure rear section driveshaft angle
^ Measure final drive angle
^ Compare these values with specifications listed on chart on reverse side
^ If out of specifications shim appropriate mount as shown in Repair Manual

NOTE: When correcting a deflection angle by installing shims, remember that the deflection angle of the adjacent joints will also change.
