Electrical and Electronic Components and Locations

Data Link Connector (DLC)





• Location: The DLC for the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051B) is located in the driver's side footwell.

Mechatronic Unit, Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217), Multifunction Transmission Range (TR) Switch (F125), Transmission Input Speed RPM Sensor (G182) and Transmission Output Speed RPM Sensor (G195)





• Location: The mechatronic unit is bolted to the underside of the transmission housing and is covered by the transmission oil pan.

The mechatronic unit incorporates the hydraulic control, the TCM, the multifunction TR switch and the sensors and actuators as a complete synchronized unit. Included are:

• TCM (J217)

• Multifunction TR switch (F125)

• Transmission input speed (RPM) sensor (G182)

• Transmission output speed (RPM) sensor (G195)

The "mechatronic" unit can only be replaced as a complete unit.

• All components mentioned are tested by On Board Diagnostics (OBD).

Wiring Harness in Transmission





• Location: The wiring harness - A - with connector - C - is attached to the mechatronic unit - B -.

Transmission Range (TR) Display (Y6)





• Installation location: the TR display (Y6) is integrated inside the instrument cluster.

• if the selection lever position display is faulty, then the instrument cluster must be replaced.

Selector Lever Sensor System Control Module (J587) and Tiptronic Switch (F189)





• Location: The selector lever sensor system control module (J587) and tiptronic switch (F189) are clipped onto the shift mechanism - arrows - as a unit - 2 -.

• Disregard the - A arrow -.

Shift Lock Solenoid (N110)





• Location: shift lock solenoid (N110) - item 1 - is clipped onto shift mechanism.

Transmission Park Selector Switch (F305)





• Location: The transmission park selector switch (F305) consisting of two reed contacts - 1 - and - 2 - is installed on the circuit board - B - on the shift lock solenoid (N110) - A -.

• The transmission park selector switch (F305) can only be replaced together with the shift lock solenoid (N110).

Kick Down Switch (F8)





• A specific value from the Throttle Position (TP) sensor (G79) and the accelerator pedal position sensor 2 (G185) are stored in the Engine Control Module (ECM).

• Location: The accelerator pedal position sensors are integrated inside the accelerator pedal module - arrow -.

• If the accelerator pedal sensor is defective, then replace the accelerator pedal module.

Selector Lever Transmission Range (TR) Position Display (Y26)





• Location: selector lever TR position display (Y26) - item 1 - is clipped into the center console.
