• Wheel bearing housing removed, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Unit ] Wheel Bearing Unit.
Removing the Wheel Hub from the 85 mm Wheel Bearing
Removing the Wheel Hub from the 92 mm Wheel Bearing
Removing the Bearing Inner Race from a 85 mm or 93 mm Wheel Hub
- Insert the separating tool between the bearing inner race - 1 - and slide washer - 2 - and pre-tighten with the spindle.
• Use a commercially available separating device e.g. (Kukko 17/2).
This deforms slide washer and it must be replaced.
- Remove the bearing inner race from the 85 mm or 92 mm wheel bearing from the wheel hub.
Replacing the Washer on an 85 mm or 92 mm Wheel Bearing
- Carefully pry out old slide washer - 1 - with a screwdriver.
- Position new slide washer on wheel hub.
- Install special tools as shown in illustration.

2. (T40089/1) for wheel bearing with 85 mm diameter or (T40089/2) for wheel bearing with 92 mm diameter

5. (VW 401)
- Press slide washer off using (T40089/1) or (T40089/2) up to wheel bearing hub radius as illustrated.
• Slide washer must be pressed on up to wheel bearing hub radius.
Pressing Wheel Hub into Wheel Bearing
- Install the special tools as illustrated.

• The reworked surface on the wheel bearing outer race faces down.
When installing or pressing in, make sure there is no dirt or contaminants between the (VW 401) - 5 - and the ball bearing - 4 -.
- Press the wheel hub into the wheel bearing.
- Install wheel bearing unit. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Unit ] Wheel Bearing Unit.
