Seat Belt Latch: Service and Repair

Passive Occupant Detection System Belt Latch

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)





• The passenger occupant detection system seat belt latch is only installed on the passenger seat.

CAUTION!
• Replace the passenger occupant detection system seat belt latch each time the passenger belt tensioner deploys.

• Observe safety precautions for work on airbags.

Removing





- Remove the seat: Standard seat, refer to => [ Standard Front Seat ] Standard Front Seats; power seat, refer to => [ Power Front Memory Seat ] Power Front Memory Seats.

- Remove belt buckle - 1 - screw - 4 -.

- Disconnect wiring harness on connector - 2 - that leads to Seat Occupied Recognition Control Module (J706) wiring harness.

Installation

Installation is in reverse order of removal. Be sure to note the following:

Observe safety precautions for work on airbags.

- Replace the seat belt latch bolt.

- Ensure cable is secured in position - 3 -.

• If the passenger occupant detection system seat belt latch is replaced, fill out the system registration sheet with the serial number and bar code label from the new seat belt latch and send it to the importer.

Tightening specification: - 4 - 34 Nm
