Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Pry lever (80-200)

• Special hook (3370)

• Trim removal wedge (3409)

Removing

CAUTION!
Note safety precautions for working on airbags. Refer to => [ Airbag System General Safety Precautions ] Airbag System General Safety Precautions and side curtain airbags, refer to => [ Side Curtain Additional Airbag Safety Precautions ] Side Curtain Additional Airbag Safety Precautions.

- Remove the right and left upper A-pillar trim. Refer to => [ Upper A-Pillar Trim ] Upper A-Pillar Trim

- Remove the upper B-pillar trim. Refer to => [ Upper B-Pillar Trim ] Upper B-Pillar Trim

- Remove the upper C-pillar trim: Avant, refer to => [ Upper C-Pillar Trim ] Upper C-Pillar Trim.

- Remove the roof trim panel: Sedan => [ Roof Panel Trim ] Roof Panel Trim.

- Remove the D-pillar trim: for the Sedan, refer to => [ D-Pillar Trim ] D-Pillar Trim; for the Avant, refer to => [ D-Pillar Trim ] D-Pillar Trim.

Vehicles with sunroof:





- Clean (80-200) to avoid soiling headliner.

- Let (80-200) slide along between sunroof opening and headliner - 2 - mounting bracket - 1 - until it locates one of the 15 clips - 3 -.

- Release clips ones after the other with (80-200) as shown in illustration - arrow -.

All:





- Remove sun visors. Refer to => [ Sun Visor ] Sun Visor.

- Remove sun visor center brackets. Refer to => [ Sun Visor Center Mount ] Sun Visor Center Mount.

- If equipped, carefully pry vanity mirror light out of cut-out - arrow - with flat screwdriver.

- Disconnect electrical connector.

- Open glasses compartment - 1 - and release center cover - 2 - and - 3 - interior light/reading light - arrow -.





- Release interior light/reading light diffusion lens - 1 - - arrow -.





- Remove bolts - arrows -.





- Swing front interior light down and remove from roof trim.

- Disconnect electrical connectors.

- Remove the screw - arrow - in front interior light/reading light roof opening, if applicable.





Sedan:

- Remove windshield.

All:





- Remove roof grab handle. Refer to => [ Roof Grab Handle ] Roof Grab Handle.

- Carefully remove interior light/reading light - 1 - from vehicle headliner opening - arrow - with (3409).

- Disconnect electrical connector.

Avant:





- Remove roof panel trim. Refer to => [ Roof Panel Trim ] Roof Panel Trim.

- Move cover cap - 1 - to side and remove screw behind on partition grille mount - 2 -.

- Fold rear seat backrests forward.

- Install driver's and passenger's seats as follows:

• Move seat all the way forward

• Backrest in reclined position

• Head rests removed

- Clean lower left luggage compartment and upper right rear hatch cut-out areas to avoid soiling headliner. Cover this area with adhesive tape or foil, if necessary.

All:





• Headliner must not be kinked; kinked headliner must be replaced.

• 2 technicians are needed to disconnect the last connections and remove headliner.

- Release clips on rear clip - arrows -.

Sedan:

- Remove headliner through windshield opening.

Avant:





- Lower headliner on left side of vehicle - arrow 1 -.

- Pull headliner out through rear lid opening - arrow 2 -.

Installation

• Threaded holes on roof grab handle and sun visors must be cleaned of all locking compound residues after removing. Otherwise, new screws could lock up when installed and shear off when removed again.

• They can be cleaned with a thread cutter.

• Replace self-locking screws.

- Align headliner.

- Install sealing lip of rubber seal on all door cut-outs with (3409) over headliner edge.

Further installation is performed in reverse sequence of removal, but observe the following:

Sedan:

- Install windshield.

All:

- Install D-pillar trim. Refer to => [ D-Pillar Trim ] D-Pillar Trim.

- Install roof panel trim. Refer to => [ Roof Panel Trim ] Roof Panel Trim.

- Install C-pillar trim. Refer to => [ Upper C-Pillar Trim ] Upper C-Pillar Trim.

- Install the upper B-pillar trim. Refer to => [ Upper B-Pillar Trim ] Upper B-Pillar Trim

- Install the right and left upper A-pillar trim. Refer to => [ Upper A-Pillar Trim ] Upper A-Pillar Trim

- Install roof grab handle. Refer to => [ Roof Grab Handle ] Roof Grab Handle.

- Install sun visor center brackets. Refer to => [ Sun Visor Center Mount ] Sun Visor Center Mount.

- Install sun visors. Refer to => [ Sun Visor ] Sun Visor.
