Rear Cross-Member Bushing: Service and Repair







Differential Crossmember Rubber Bonded Bushing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Removing

- Subframe with attachments, removing and installing, refer to => [ Subframe with Attachments ] Subframe with Attachments.

- Apply marking - arrow A - above groove - 1 - of bearing - 2 - on subframe.






- Install tools at subframe as shown in illustration.






1. Spindle (3346/2)

2. Thrust piece (3348/2). Insert in subframe with smooth side toward bearing.

4. Washer (T40032/2)


- Pull bearing out of subframe.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Apply continuous marking - arrow A - at groove - arrow B -.






Marking is needed to align bearing with subframe.

When pulling in bearing, groove is masked by tool.

- Observe different bearing versions.

Bearing - 2 - with yellow dot - arrow B - must be installed on right side.






- Position bearing - 2 - with groove - 1 - at your marking - arrow A -.

- Attach tools and bearing at subframe, as shown in illustration. Marking - arrow A - on bearing and marking - arrow B - on subframe must align.

- Pull bearing into subframe until stop.

If paint damage has occurred during bearing replacement, repair using corrosion protection, primer and black top coat.
