ATF Strainer
Removing
• Automatic transmission clean working conditions, refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.
• General repair instructions, refer to => [ Repair Information ] Repair Information.
- Remove the ATF oil pan. Refer to => [ Automatic Transmission Fluid Oil Pan ] Service and Repair.
- Carefully remove the ATF strainer - A - from the transmission.
Installing
• The ATF strainer seal - A - normally stays in the transmission.
• The seal must be removed first to replace the ATF strainer.
• The same seal can be used again if the old ATF strainer is also being used again.
Note the following when replacing with a new ATF strainer:
• Replace the ATF strainer only if it is damaged.
• With high mileage vehicles, replace the ATF strainer when the ATF pan is removed.
- Carefully remove the ATF strainer seal - A - from the transmission with a screwdriver.
• Do not damage sealing surface.
• The illustration shows seal with the Mechatronic unit removed.
• The new ATF strainer comes with the seal installed.
Continuation for New and Old ATF Strainer:
- Carefully press the intake neck on the new ATF strainer - A - into the opening on the transmission as far as the stop.
• When replacing with a new ATF strainer, press it into the transmission with the seal already installed.
- Install the ATF pan. Refer to => [ Automatic Transmission Fluid Oil Pan ] Service and Repair.
- Fill the ATF. Refer to => [ ATF, Draining or Filling after Repair ] ATF, Draining or Filling After Repair.
