Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 08-77 dated November 7, 2008 for reasons listed below.

Affected Vehicles

Condition

Noises from the RNS-E navigation unit (PR No. 7Q2) when driving on poor roads.

Technical Background

Screen and housing of the navigation can make noises when severely shaken.

Production Solution

Felt strips installed in production.

Service

A repair authorization from the Technical Assistance Center is not necessary to complete this repair.

Fit felt strips/buffers to prevent the noises:

1. Attach the felt strips (155 mm x 10 mm) on the frame of the screen holder (Figure 1, Point 2).

2. Perform a test drive. If the noises persist, continue with step 3.

3. Fit the two buffers (10 mm x 20 mm) directly on the screen (Figure 1, Point 1).

4. The two foam strips must be flush with the screen housing. If they are too far forward, the foam strip might come off when the housing is folded in.
