The manual gear lever is difficult to operate, or gear lever requires great force to move side to side.
Technical Background
Incorrect installation of the spring piston in the bore of the shifter housing. This can lead to early wear of the piston and the bore.

Improved process in production.
Service
Tip:
It is not necessary to receive a Repair Authorization to perform this or any other R8 TSB.
1. Replace the gearshift mechanism with part number 420 711 050.
2. Check for proper operation.
