Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Hose clamps up to 25 mm (3094)
Observe notes on contact corrosion. Refer to => [ Contact Corrosion ] Vehicle Damage Warnings.
Removing
- With ignition switched off, disconnect battery ground wire. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
- Remove the ribbed belt tensioner.
- Disconnect electrical connector - 2 -.
- Remove B+ line protective cap.
- Remove the nut - 1 - and the B+ wire.
- Loosen the hose clamps - arrows - on the coolant hoses.
- Clamp off coolant hoses with hose clamps (3094).
• For a better overview, the installation location is shown with the engine removed.
• Place a cloth beneath to catch escaping coolant.
- Loosen generator bolts - arrows - approximately 6 turns.
- Using a hammer, carefully tap the bolt heads to loosen the generator mount bushings.
- Remove bolts completely.
- Remove the generator with coolant pipes.
- Remove the coolant hoses from the coolant pipes on the generator.
Installing
• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Generator Assembly Overview ] Generator Assembly Overview.
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
• Secure all hose connections using standard hose clamps.
• Because the clamping force of a tight bushing is too low despite correct torque, bushings must be loosened.
- Drive retaining bolt bushings back slightly for easier generator installation.
- Install ribbed belt tensioner.
- Make sure poly V-belt is properly positioned and correctly routed - 2 -.

- Connect battery. Required actions => [ Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
- Fill coolant.
- Start engine and check belt routing.
