Front Lines and Hoses Assembly Overview

Power steering pump is not designed to be serviced. If there are customer complaints, the cause must be determined using a pressure and leak test. If there is a malfunction, replace the vane pump.

• If power steering fluid is low in reservoir, check steering system for leaks.

• If there are leaks in the area of the line connections, the lines/connections must first be inspected for leaks, tightened as necessary and wiped dry.

• Power steering pump is delivered without oil. Therefore, hydraulic oil must be filled before installation and turned by hand. Otherwise, noises when driving or damage to power steering pump may occur.





1 Power Steering Gear

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Power Steering Gear ] Power Steering Gear.

• Bleed the steering. Refer to => [ Steering System, Bleeding after Replacing ] Service and Repair.

• Check hydraulic fluid level. Refer to => [ Power Steering, Checking Fluid Level ] Power Steering, Checking Fluid Level.

• Steering system, checking for leaks, refer to => [ Steering System, Checking for Leaks ] Steering System, Checking For Leaks.

2 Nut

• 8 Nm

3 Clamp

4 Bolt

• 8 Nm

5 Bracket

6 Bracket

7 Bolt

• 8 Nm

8 Hydraulic Oil Cooler

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Hydraulic Oil Cooler ] Service and Repair.

• Bleed the steering. Refer to => [ Steering System, Bleeding after Replacing ] Service and Repair.

• Check hydraulic fluid level. Refer to => [ Power Steering, Checking Fluid Level ] Power Steering, Checking Fluid Level.

• Steering system, checking for leaks, refer to => [ Steering System, Checking for Leaks ] Steering System, Checking For Leaks.

9 Bolt

• 2.5 Nm

10 Air Duct

11 Clamp

• Tension with the hose clamp pliers (V.A.G 1275) or locking pliers (VAS 6199).

• Always replace after removal.

12 Return Line

• From the power steering gear to the hydraulic oil cooler.

• Note the installation location on the steering gear. Refer to => [ Line Installation Location
on the Steering Gear ] Front Lines and Hoses, Assembling.

• Note location on hydraulic oil cooler. Refer to => [ Front Lines and Hoses, Assembling ] Front Lines and Hoses, Assembling.

• Installation location on the body, refer to => [ Front Lines and Hoses, Assembling ] Front Lines and Hoses, Assembling.

13 Return Line, Front Section

• From the hydraulic oil cooler to the reservoir.

• Note location on hydraulic oil cooler. Refer to => [ Front Lines and Hoses, Assembling ] Front Lines and Hoses, Assembling.

• Installation location on the longitudinal member, refer to => [ Front Lines and Hoses, Assembling ] Front Lines and Hoses, Assembling.

14 Banjo Bolt

• Always replace after removal.

• 47 Nm

15 Seal

• Always replace after removal.
