Engine Oil, Filling

4.2L FSI

Perform the following:

• Fill the oil pan with 7.0 liters.

• Start the engine.

• Switch off the engine after letting it idle for 30 seconds.

• Add another 3 liters of oil.

• Check oil level. Refer to => [ Engine Oil Level, Checking ] Testing and Inspection

- After the engine oil and oil filter have been replaced, observe the following when first starting the engine:

• As long as the oil pressure warning light in the instrument panel insert flashes, the engine is only to run at idle. Do not touch the accelerator pedal!

• Only when the warning light extinguishes, is the full oil pressure achieved, and the engine can be accelerated.

5.2L FSI

Perform the following:

• Fill the oil pan with 7.0 liters.

• Start the engine.

• Switch off the engine after letting it idle for 30 seconds.

• Add another 1.3 liters of oil.

• Check oil level. Refer to => [ Engine Oil Level, Checking ] Testing and Inspection

- After the engine oil and oil filter have been replaced, observe the following when first starting the engine:

• As long as the oil pressure warning light in the instrument panel insert flashes, the engine is only to run at idle. Do not touch the accelerator pedal!

• Only when the warning light extinguishes, is the full oil pressure achieved, and the engine can be accelerated.
