Reservoir
Reservoir
• Adjustment of oil quantity depends on nature of complaint.
• If the reservoir was damaged, e.g. during an accident (no refrigerant escaped, no moisture or dirt entered refrigerant circuit), A/C system can be serviced without the need for extensive repair work by weighing old and new reservoir. Add enough refrigerant oil to the new reservoir until it is the same weight as the one that was removed.
• If a certain amount of refrigerant oil has leaked due to an accident or contaminants or moisture has entered the refrigerant circuit, flush the circuit.
Removing
- Remove the refrigerant lines - E and F - from the reservoir, refer to => [ Reservoir Refrigerant Lines ].
- Remove the bolts - arrows -.
- Remove the reservoir - A - with the bracket - G -.
- Loosen the bolts - B - and remove the reservoir - A - from the bracket - G -.
Installing
• Tightening specification: Reservoir bracket to body: 6 Nm.
• Tightening specification: Refrigerant line to reservoir: 9 Nm.
Installation is done is reverse order, observe the following:
• The removed reservoir contains refrigerant oil that must be returned to the refrigerant circuit (with the new reservoir).
• Keep the reservoir closed as long as possible. Do not remove the caps until just before installing. The reservoir contains a desiccant bag that will become saturated with moisture and unusable in a short time if the reservoir is left open.
- Insert the reservoir - A - in the bracket - G -.
- Attach refrigerant lines, refer to => [ Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting from Condenser and Connecting ].
- When tightening the bolts - B -, hold the reservoir so the refrigerant lines - E and F - are free of tension.
- Tighten the bolts - C and D -.
• Tightening specification: 9 Nm.
- Install the left rear wheel housing liner.
- Evacuate and fill refrigerant circuit.
After finishing the repairs, perform the following work on the Climatronic Control Module (J255) using the Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051/ in the "Guided Fault Finding" function:
- Check the DTC memory and erase any malfunctions shown.
- Operate the A/C system after filling the refrigerant circuit, refer to => [ Operating After Filling Refrigerant Circuit ] Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning.
• Note the information regarding operating the A/C system after filling.
