Rollover Protection

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Pry Lever (80 - 200)





Removal

CAUTION!
Follow the safety precautions for the rollover protection. Refer to => [ Rollover Protection Additional Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.

- Remove the convertible top module and set it on the (VAS 6131 A).

- Unscrew screw - 1 - and expose bracket - 2 - for the hydraulic lines for convertible top operation on the rollover protection.





- Expose the hydraulic lines for convertible top operation on the rollover protection by using the (80 - 200) to pry out the bracket - 3 -.

- Disconnect and expose electrical harness connector - 4 - for the window regulator motor.

- Remove hydraulic pump - 5 -. The hydraulic lines are not opened.

- Open convertible top - 1 - until the displayed position of the convertible top, convertible top fins - 2 - and convertible top compartment cover - 3 - is reached.





- Secure the convertible top compartment cover in the "open " position against unintentional closing.

- Remove screws - 3 -.





• A second mechanic is required for the rest of the steps.

- Together with a second mechanic, secure the rollover protection against falling and unscrew screws - 1, 2 -.

- Remove the rollover protection with the rear window frame in a downward direction from the convertible top module.

- Remove the rear window frame from the rollover protection.

Installation

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

• Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.

- If the rollover protection had to be removed because of an accident, then the bolts for the rollover protection must be replaced.

CAUTION!
Make sure no one is standing near the rollover protection when reconnecting the battery. Stand at least 1 meter away.

- Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on.

- ALWAYS perform an output diagnostic test under "Guided Functions " after repairing the rollover protection and only after all work procedures are completed (also if a new rollover protection was installed).
