Intake Manifold

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Assembly tool (T10118)

Removing

There is a risk of injury because the fuel is under very high pressure.

• Before opening high pressure components of the fuel injection system, pressure must be relieved to residual pressure.

- Reduce fuel pressure in high pressure area => [ Releasing Fuel Pressure on High Pressure Side ] Service Precautions.

- Drain coolant.

- Remove small left coolant pipe.

- Remove fuel rail for cylinders 2, 4, 6 => [ Fuel Rail and Injectors, for Cylinders 2, 4 and 6 ] Fuel Rail and Injectors, For Cylinders 2, 4 and 6.

• Fuel injectors must not be removed.

- Remove bolts - arrows -.





- Disconnect vacuum hose - 1 -.





- Remove air guide pipe - arrows -.

- Disconnect electrical connector - 1 - on throttle valve control module (J338).





• Ignore - arrows -.

- Remove vacuum lines on intake manifold as follows:





1. For EVAP canister, press release buttons

2. To Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) valve (N316)

3. For brake booster, remove suction jet pump - arrow - from bracket and press release buttons

4. To Leak Detection Pump (LDP) (V144), press release buttons

- Disconnect electrical connector - 1 - on Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) heating element (N79).





- Disconnect crankcase ventilation hose - arrow -.

- Unclip cover strip for ignition coil - 1 to 6 - ignition wiring harness - arrow -.





- Release electrical connectors on ignition coils with assembly tool (T10118) - arrow - and remove.





- Press pins through with a screwdriver - arrows - and lay aside strip with electrical connectors.





- Remove bolts - arrows -.





- Rotate intake manifold to left - arrow - and remove.





• To prevent small parts from entering intake channel, seal off channel in cylinder head with a clean cloth.

Installing

• Tightening specifications => [ Intake Manifold, Assembly Overview ] Intake Manifold, Assembly Overview, => [ Fuel Rail and Injectors, Assembly Overview ] Fuel Rail and Injectors, Assembly Overview.

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

• Replace intake manifold seal.

• During installation, all cable ties must be reinstalled at the same location.

- Install fuel rail for fuel injectors for cylinders 2, 4, 6 => [ Fuel Rail and Injectors, for Cylinders 2, 4 and 6 ] Fuel Rail and Injectors, For Cylinders 2, 4 and 6.

- Install small left coolant pipe.

- Fill with coolant.
