Starter

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Support bar (10 - 222 A)

• Adapter (10 - 222 A /21)

• Engine Support Supplement Set (T40093)

Removing





• When installing, reinstall all cable ties that were loosened or cut during removal in the same locations.

- With ignition switched off, disconnect battery ground (ND) wire. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

- Remove rear engine cover - arrows -.

- Remove rubber seal - 1 - on plenum chamber covers.





- Remove plenum chamber covers - 2 - and - 3 -.

- Remove rear bolts - 3 - for dome brace.





- Secure (10 - 222 A /21) to suspension strut towers without crossbars.

• Supports are marked for left and right side of vehicle.

• Center resting point - 2 - of supports is positioned on front bolts for dome brace.

• (10 - 222 A /21) are secured with rear bolts - 3 - for dome brace.

• Knurled screw - 1 - must be screwed down such that support plate rests on suspension strut dome.

- Secure crossbars with two (T40093/6) to (10 - 222 A /21).





- Attach (10 - 222 A /11) to rear engine lifting eyes.

- Pretension engine slightly with engine support bridge spindles.

- Remove front right wheel.





- Remove fasteners - 1 -, - 2 - and - 4 - and remove front noise insulation.

- Remove right front part of front wheel housing liner.

- Free up secondary air injection (AIR) air guide hose - 1 - on ATF cooler.





- Remove bolts - arrows - and remove ATF cooler.

- Secure ATF cooler to engine.

- Remove bracket for noise insulation - arrows -.





- Remove bolts - arrows -.





- Remove heat shield.

- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 - for left and right stabilizer mounts.





- Remove bolts - 3 - and - 4 -.





• Ignore - 1 - and - 2 -.

- Remove left and right engine mount bolts - arrows -.





- Remove engine support.

- Unplug connector - 2 - at right engine mount.





- Remove electrical wiring bracket - 1 - on engine support.

- Remove bolts - arrows -.

- Remove right engine support with engine mount.

• The B+ line can only be removed after disconnecting terminal 50 electrical connector.





- Remove ground wire - 1 -.

- Remove electrical wires - 3 - and - 4 -.

- Remove bolts - 2 - and - 5 - and remove starter.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

• When installing, install cable ties at same location.

- Install engine carrier and subframe.

- Install engine support.

- Install stabilizer bar.

- Connect battery. Required actions, refer to => [ To connect, connect terminal clamp of ground (GND) wire by hand to battery negative terminal and tighten nut. ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
