Intake Housing With Air Flow Flap, Removing And Installing
Removing
- Remove left and right plenum chamber covers.
- Remove dust and pollen filter.
- Remove dome brace with reinforcement to cowl panel trim.
- Switch on ignition and set air conditioner to fresh-air mode (e.g. by "Defrost" setting on Climatronic Control Module J255)
NOTE: To gain access to bolts - A -, air flow flap must be open.
- Remove bolts - A -.
- Switch off ignition.
- Now remove the remaining screws - arrows -.
- Release fasteners for wiring harness - A - on left and right of air conditioner.
- Take off air intake shroud with air flow flap.
- If necessary for further work, open remaining wiring harness fasteners at air conditioner.
- Remove bolts - A -.
- Remove cover - B -.
- Remove temperature sensor from intake housing
- Remove Air Flow Flap Motor V71.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order, when doing this note the following:
- Before installing air intake housing, seal housing joint at areas marked - C - and - D - thoroughly with silicone sealant D 176 001 A3.
- Seal grommet through which wiring harness is routed into air conditioner (to Fresh Air Blower Control Module J126) with silicone sealant D 176 001 A3 (to prevent ingress of water into air conditioner through grommet or past grommet).
- Install the removed components again in reverse order.
NOTE:
- If there are complaints about moisture (evaporator on windshield, odor), a sponge rubber strip dia 3 mm - A - should be inserted in addition to sealing measures described, starting and finishing at area - B -. In the area marked - B -, in which the groove is narrower, there should be no sponge rubber strip.
- Use commercially available sponge rubber strip, soft type dia 3 mm.
- Check DTC memory of Climatronic Control Module J255 and erase DTCs displayed if necessary. Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in "Guided Fault Finding" function.
- Perform basic setting and output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) on the A/C system. Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in "Guided Fault Finding" function.
