Left Heat Exchanger (Driver's Side), Removing And Installing
Removing
- Removing right heat exchanger (front passenger's side)
- Remove driver's storage compartment.
- Remove entire accelerator pedal module.
- Remove left footwell vent.
- Cover carpet under heat exchanger with impermeable sheeting and absorbent paper.
- Remove clamp -A- and -B-.
- Detach coolant pipes -C- and -D- from heat exchanger -E-.
- Push heat exchanger -E- towards front passenger's side (sideways through heating and A/C unit).
Installing
- Check attached foam seal before fitting heat exchanger.
NOTE:
- Seal may curl up on insertion if not correctly bonded on.
- Cold air may flow past heat exchanger if seal is damaged or not properly fitted.
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
NOTE:
- Sealing rings must always be replaced.
- To stop heat exchanger slipping back into heating and A/C unit, it is advisable to insert heat exchanger for front passenger's side into heating and A/C unit and secure holder with bolt -C-.
- Push heat exchanger from front passenger's side sideways through heating and A/C unit.
- Fit O-ring seals, coolant pipes and fasteners in same manner as that described for right heat exchanger.
- Before installing glove compartment and plenum chamber cover, check position of grommets -C- and -D- in coolant pipe penetration to plenum chamber.
- Before installing glove compartment, check cooling system for leaks.
- Perform remaining installation operations in the same manner as that described for installation of heat exchanger on front passenger's side.
