Condition
Noise or no sound in CD- and radio mode is encountered in a BOSE Sound System equipped A6. The ring break
diagnosis does not determine the amplifier J525 as defect.
Technical Background
The BOSE amplifier may be stuck in MUTE. The condition can be reversed via power supply reset to the amplifier.
Only BOSE amplifier with software version 0140 may be affected.
Production Solution
Software improvement in model year 2007.
Service
Verify, if the issue is present in all Audio modes.
Perform a -3 dB ring break diagnosis.
If the -3 dB ring break diagnosis passes, reset the BOSE amplifier by disconnecting and then reconnecting the BOSE amplifier connector.
Ensure, that terminal 15/ignition is turned off, when disconnecting the amplifier connector
If the sound returns or the noise disappear, an MMI System - Update has to be performed.
Therefore contact your Technical Field Manager or the Technical Assistance Center respectively.
